I’m soon to graduate, and I’m an aspiring FX Artist. My main skill sets include procedural FX made with Houdini, and investigating the latest Houdini to unreal engine workflows for Realtime rendering.
In a recent portfolio project of mine, I was challenged to create a procedural plant growth system. Constructing a digital ecosystem with time instancing of many plants. The payoff was when 80 level wrote an article about the piece (https://80.lv/articles/check-out-this-ghibli-inspired-plant-growth-fx-made-in-houdini/)
This mentorship involved weekly feedback meetings with a member of the FX department within Axis Studios. These feedback sessions involved looking at personal projects I was working on, and being challenged with different approaches, whilst learning different approaches to each project.
Created a variety of graphics for a live concert in Dubai, these graphics had to be streamed at 5k, 60fps. This was to ensure the best clarity when displayed on a 12 story LED wall in the city.
This was a week long internship, I was challenged to create different effects and tools using Houdini, under the guidance of CG supervisors and senior artists.
As part of the Technicolor Academy training program, I was given weekly tasks and challenged to create many different types of effects. Daily feedback sessions were carried out to develop the projects with the guidance of lead artists.
